Braised Turkey Wings
Ingredients:
-
4 turkey wings (about 3-4 lbs)
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 large onion, sliced
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
2 carrots, chopped
-
2 celery stalks, chopped
-
1 cup chicken broth (or turkey broth)
-
1 cup crushed tomatoes (or tomato sauce)
-
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
-
1 teaspoon dried thyme
-
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
-
Prepare the turkey wings: Pat them dry with paper towels and season generously with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, thyme, and rosemary.
-
Brown the wings: Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add turkey wings and brown them on all sides (about 4-5 minutes per side). Remove and set aside.
-
Sauté veggies: In the same pot, add onions, carrots, celery, and garlic. Cook until softened (about 5-7 minutes).
-
Add liquids: Pour in chicken broth and crushed tomatoes. Stir to combine and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.
-
Return wings: Put turkey wings back into the pot, nestling them into the liquid.
-
Bake: Cover the pot with a lid and place it in the oven. Bake for about 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.
-
Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if you like. These go well with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread.
