Here’s a Tremendous BLT Classic Sandwich recipe that’s loaded with flavor, perfectly crispy, and incredibly satisfying. I’ll break down everything from ingredients to tips for the crispiest bacon and freshest sandwich.


Tremendous BLT Classic Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients (Serves 2 sandwiches)

  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon (preferably applewood smoked)

  • 4 slices quality sandwich bread (white, sourdough, or your favorite)

  • 2 large ripe tomatoes (preferably beefsteak or heirloom), sliced about 1/4 inch thick

  • 4 large leaves of fresh iceberg or romaine lettuce

  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise (use good quality or make your own)

  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, adds a nice tang)

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

  • Butter (optional, for toasting the bread)


Instructions

1. Cook the Bacon

  • Best Method: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lay bacon slices on a wire rack set over a baking sheet (this allows fat to drip and crisps evenly).

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until crispy. Keep an eye to avoid burning.

  • Remove bacon and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.

2. Prepare the Bread

  • Lightly butter one side of each bread slice.

  • Toast the bread slices in a skillet or toaster oven over medium heat until golden brown and crispy.

  • Alternatively, use a grill pan for nice grill marks.

3. Prepare Tomatoes & Lettuce

  • Wash lettuce leaves and pat dry.

  • Slice tomatoes and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper to enhance flavor.

4. Make the Spread

  • Mix mayonnaise and Dijon mustard (if using) in a small bowl.

  • Spread generously on one side of each toasted bread slice.

5. Assemble the Sandwich

  • On one slice of bread, mayo side up, layer:

    1. Lettuce leaf (helps keep the bread from getting soggy)

    2. Tomato slices (evenly spread)

    3. Crispy bacon slices stacked generously

  • Top with the other slice of bread, mayo side down.

6. Serve & Enjoy!

  • Cut sandwiches diagonally for that classic look.

  • Serve immediately with your favorite chips, fries, or a side salad.


Tips for the Tremendous BLT:

  • Bacon: Thick-cut bacon offers the best texture — crispy on edges but chewy inside.

  • Tomatoes: Use the freshest, ripest tomatoes you can find — they’re the juicy star.
