Here’s a classic Southern Chocolate Cobbler recipe for you! It’s rich, gooey, and perfect served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Southern Chocolate Cobbler

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

  • 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 cup boiling water

  • Optional: vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.

  3. Stir in the milk until smooth.

  4. Pour the melted butter into a 9×9-inch baking dish (or similar size) and spread it evenly.

  5. Pour the batter over the melted butter—do not stir.

  6. In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder with the boiling water until smooth.

  7. Carefully pour the chocolate mixture over the batter in the baking dish—again, don’t stir.

  8. Bake for about 35-40 minutes, until the top is set and the edges are bubbly.

  9. Serve warm, ideally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top.
