Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Here’s a simple and delicious sourdough chocolate chip dough recipe for you! This assumes you already have an active sourdough starter ready to go.


Sourdough Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Ingredients:

  • 150g active sourdough starter (100% hydration, fed and bubbly)

  • 100g unsalted butter, softened

  • 150g brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 50g granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 250g all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 150g chocolate chips or chunks


Instructions:

  1. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with both sugars until creamy and fluffy.

  2. Add Starter, Egg & Vanilla: Mix in the sourdough starter, egg, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.

  5. Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips evenly.

  6. Chill Dough: Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours (or overnight) to develop flavor and improve texture.

  7. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, about 1-2 tbsp per cookie. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden but centers still look soft.

  8. Cool: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
