Slow Cooker Cheesy Burger Flavored Soup

Posted on June 28, 2025

Here’s a comforting recipe for a Slow Cooker Cheesy Burger Flavored Soup that’s perfect for a cozy day. It’s hearty, cheesy, and full of that classic burger flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey if you prefer)

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 4 cups beef broth

  • 2 cups diced potatoes (peeled or unpeeled)

  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, drained

  • 1 cup carrots, diced (optional)

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup milk (or heavy cream for extra richness)

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp dried basil

  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tbsp flour (optional, for thickening)

  • Chopped pickles (for garnish, optional)

  • Cooked bacon bits (for garnish, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Brown the Ground Beef:

    • In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess grease.

    • Add diced onions and garlic to the pan and sauté until soft (about 3 minutes). Transfer this mixture to the slow cooker.

  2. Add the Broth and Veggies:

    • To the slow cooker, add the beef broth, diced potatoes, carrots (if using), diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, basil, thyme, pepper, and salt. Stir everything together.

  3. Cook:

    • Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the potatoes are tender.

  4. Make it Creamy:

    • In the last 30 minutes of cooking, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and milk. If you want the soup thicker, you can dissolve the flour in a little water and stir it into the soup before adding the cheese.

  5. Serve:

    • Once the cheese is melted and the soup has thickened slightly, taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

    • Serve hot with optional toppings like chopped pickles or bacon bits for that extra “burger” feel.

Tips:

  • Add some heat: If you like a bit of spice, toss in some crushed red pepper flakes or diced jalapeños.

  • For a richer flavor: Use heavy cream instead of milk.

  • Use frozen veggies: If you’re short on time, frozen diced carrots or other veggies work well too.
