Posted on May 28, 2025

Here’s a detailed recipe for Sausage and Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls—a classic, crowd-pleasing appetizer or breakfast bite that’s buttery, cheesy, and super easy to make.

🌭 Sausage and Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls

🧂 Ingredients (Makes 16 rolls)

  • 1 lb (450g) breakfast sausage
(pork, turkey, or your favorite kind—uncooked)

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough (8-count each, e.g., Pillsbury)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra cheesiness)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat the oven

  • Set to 375°F (190°C).

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with nonstick cooking spray.

2. Cook the sausage

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled.

  • Drain excess grease and remove from heat.

3. Make the filling

  • While the sausage is still warm, mix it with the softened cream cheese in a bowl until smooth.

  • Stir in garlic powder, black pepper, and shredded cheddar (if using).

  • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Let cool slightly.

4. Prepare the crescent rolls

  • Unroll the crescent dough and separate into individual triangles.

  • Place a heaping tablespoon of the sausage filling at the wide end of each triangle.

  • Roll each triangle from the wide end to the narrow tip, encasing the filling.

  • Tuck the ends slightly to prevent leakage during baking.

5. Bake

  • Place the rolled crescents on the prepared baking sheet.

  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.

6. Cool slightly and serve

  • Let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.

  • Serve warm with dipping sauces like ranch, mustard, or spicy mayo.

🔁 Variations

  • Spicy Version: Use hot sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes.

  • Herb Flavor: Add 1 tsp dried parsley, chives, or Italian seasoning to the filling.

  • Mini Size: Cut each triangle in half before filling to make bite-sized party appetizers.

🧊 Storage & Reheating

  • Fridge: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

  • Reheat: Warm in oven at 300°F (150°C) for 5–8 minutes or microwave for 30 seconds.

  • Freeze (before baking): Assemble, freeze on a tray, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen, adding 5–7 minutes to bake time.
