Here’s a quick and easy Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots recipe that’s perfect as a side dish for weeknight dinners or special occasions:


Quick Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (about 450g) carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds or baby carrots

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (optional)

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon or a pinch of nutmeg (optional, for extra warmth)

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Boil the carrots:

    • In a medium saucepan, bring salted water to a boil.

    • Add carrots and cook for about 6–8 minutes, or until just tender.

    • Drain and set aside.

  2. Make the glaze:

    • In the same saucepan (or a skillet), melt butter over medium heat.

    • Stir in brown sugar, salt, and any optional spices.

    • Let it bubble for 1–2 minutes until it forms a syrupy glaze.

  3. Glaze the carrots:

    • Return the cooked carrots to the pan and toss to coat.

    • Cook for another 2–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until carrots are fully glazed and heated through.

  4. Serve:

    • Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.
