Here’s a simple and delicious Pull Apart Herb Bread recipe you can try:

Pull Apart Herb Bread

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (plus extra for brushing)

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped (or 1 tbsp dried)

  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped (or 1/2 tbsp dried)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough:

    • In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

    • Add melted butter, egg, salt, and half of the herbs. Mix in the flour gradually and knead until smooth and elastic (about 8-10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a stand mixer).

  2. First rise:

    • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. Prepare herb butter:

    • Mix melted butter with minced garlic, remaining herbs, and a pinch of salt.

  4. Shape the bread:

    • Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 12×10 inches).

    • Brush the dough evenly with the herb butter mixture. Sprinkle cheese evenly over the top if using.

  5. Cut and stack:

    • Cut the dough into small squares or strips (about 2×2 inches).

    • Stack or layer the pieces into a greased loaf pan or arrange loosely in a round pan, stacking pieces so they can be pulled apart after baking.

  6. Second rise:

    • Cover and let the dough rest for another 30 minutes to 1 hour until puffed.

  7. Bake:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.

  8. Cool and serve:

    • Brush the top with extra melted butter while warm for a glossy finish.

    • Let cool slightly, then pull apart and enjoy!
