Pioneer Woman Cheeseburger Pie
Ingredients:
-
For the crust:
-
1 package refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade if preferred)
-
-
For the filling:
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
-
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
-
1/2 teaspoon paprika
-
1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
-
1/2 cup ketchup
-
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
-
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
1/4 cup pickles (optional, for added flavor)
-
-
For the top layer:
-
1 cup milk
-
3 large eggs
-
1/2 cup sour cream
-
1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional, for a cheesy topping)
-
Instructions:
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Prepare the crust:
-
Unroll the pie crusts and line the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie dish with one crust. Set the second crust aside for later.
-
-
Cook the beef mixture:
-
In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
-
Add the chopped onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the onions are softened.
-
Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and mustard. Stir in the ketchup and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
-
Stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and well combined. You can also add pickles at this stage if you’re using them.
-
-
Assemble the pie:
-
Pour the beef mixture into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.
-
In a small bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and sour cream. Pour this mixture over the beef filling in the pie dish.
-
If desired, sprinkle an extra 1/2 cup of shredded cheese on top for a cheesy finish.
-
-
Top the pie:
-
Carefully place the second pie crust on top of the filling. Trim any excess dough and crimp the edges to seal the pie. You can make a few small slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
-
-
Bake:
-
Bake the pie for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is set.
