Pepperoni pinwheels

Pepperoni pinwheels are a delicious and easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 20-30 slices of pepperoni

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • Optional: Italian seasoning or dried oregano

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Prepare the puff pastry: Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.

  3. Spread sauce: Evenly spread the pizza sauce over the puff pastry, leaving about a 1/2-inch border on all sides.

  4. Add cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce.

  5. Layer pepperoni: Place the pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese.

  6. Roll it up: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the puff pastry into a tight log.

  7. Slice: Cut the log into 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick slices.

  8. Prepare for baking: Place the pinwheels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about an inch apart.

  9. Egg wash: Beat the egg and brush the tops of the pinwheels to help them brown nicely.

  10. Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.

  11. Cool and serve: Let cool a few minutes before serving.
