🍑 Classic Peach Dump Cake Recipe

⭐ What is a Dump Cake?

A dump cake is a super easy dessert made by “dumping” ingredients into a baking dish—no mixing required. It’s a cross between a cobbler and a cake, with a bubbly fruit base and a buttery, golden cake topping.

🧺 Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (15.25 oz each) of sliced peaches in syrup or juice
(you can also use one large 29 oz can; don’t drain them)

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) of yellow cake mix

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional but recommended)

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

  • Optional toppings:

    • Chopped pecans or walnuts (about 1/2 cup)

    • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

🍽 Equipment:

  • 9×13-inch baking dish

  • Can opener

  • Mixing bowl (optional, for butter)

  • Spatula or spoon

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat and Prep

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Lightly grease your 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Step 2: Dump the Peaches

  • Open the canned peaches and pour the entire contents (including the syrup or juice) into the baking dish.

  • Spread them out evenly.

Step 3: Add Cinnamon and Nutmeg (Optional)

  • Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and nutmeg evenly over the peaches for added flavor.

Step 4: Add the Cake Mix

  • Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the peaches.
    Do not mix.
You’re just layering it right on top.

Step 5: Add the Butter

  • Melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove.

  • Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the dry cake mix. Try to cover as much of the surface as possible to ensure an even, golden crust.

Step 6: Add Nuts (Optional)

  • Sprinkle chopped nuts over the top if you’re using them.

Step 7: Bake

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

  • The fruit should be hot and bubbling, and the cake topping crisp and golden.

Step 8: Cool and Serve

  • Let the dump cake cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.

  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

📝 Tips & Variations:

  • Using fresh or frozen peaches? Use about 4 cups sliced peaches. Toss with 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water before using.

  • Want it richer? Cut cold butter into thin slices and lay them on top of the dry cake mix instead of using melted butter.

  • Make it tropical: Add 1/2 cup shredded coconut or some crushed pineapple with the peaches.
