Old Fashioned Fudge
Ingredients:
-
2 cups granulated sugar
-
2/3 cup evaporated milk
-
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
-
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
Pinch of salt
Instructions:
-
Prepare your pan: Line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
-
Cook the fudge base: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt.
-
Boil: Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once it boils, reduce heat to medium-low and continue boiling for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
-
Remove from heat: Take the pan off the heat and immediately stir in the chocolate chips and vanilla extract until fully melted and smooth.
-
Pour and cool: Pour the fudge mixture into your prepared pan, spreading evenly.
-
Set: Let it cool at room temperature until firm, or refrigerate for quicker setting.
-
Cut & serve: Once set, cut into squares and enjoy!
If you want, I can also give you variations (like adding nuts, marshmallows, or different chocolates). Want to try?
