No-Bake Maria Cookie Flan

A No-Bake Maria Cookie Flan is a delicious, simple dessert that doesn’t require any baking! Here’s a recipe that you can easily follow:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of Maria cookies (about 200g or 7oz)

  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (397g or 14oz)

  • 1 can of evaporated milk (370ml or 13oz)

  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream (120ml)

  • 3 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/4 cup of sugar (for caramel sauce)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Caramel Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the 1/4 cup of sugar over medium heat until it melts and turns into a golden caramel. Stir gently to ensure it doesn’t burn.

  2. Pour the caramel into a round or square cake pan (depending on the shape you want). Swirl the pan to coat the bottom with the caramel. Set aside to cool and harden.

Step 2: Prepare the Flan Custard

  1. In a blender or mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, heavy cream, eggs, and vanilla extract.

  2. Blend everything together until smooth and fully combined (about 20-30 seconds).

Step 3: Layer the Cookies

  1. Lay the Maria cookies at the bottom of the cake pan over the cooled caramel. You can arrange them in a single layer or slightly overlap them. Don’t worry if they break, they’ll soften and bond with the custard.

Step 4: Assemble the Flan

  1. Pour the custard mixture over the cookies, making sure the cookies are fully submerged. Tap the pan gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles.

Step 5: Chill

  1. Cover the pan with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours, or preferably overnight. This helps the flavors meld and the flan to set.

Step 6: Serve

  1. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the pan to loosen the flan. Place a large plate on top of the pan and quickly flip it over.

  2. Lift the pan off and reveal your no-bake Maria cookie flan! The caramel will now be on top, ready to drizzle over the slices.

Tips:

  • If you prefer a thicker caramel layer, you can make a little more caramel and pour it in the pan before adding the cookies.

  • You can add a touch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the custard for a little extra flavor.

  • For a more decadent version, add some chopped nuts or berries for garnish.
