🌯 Lumpia Goreng Recipe

Yield: ~20 rolls
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes

🧄 Ingredients:

For the filling:

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 200g (7 oz) ground chicken or beef (optional)

  • 1 small carrot, julienned or shredded

  • 100g (3.5 oz) cabbage, finely shredded

  • 100g bean sprouts

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Others:

  • 20 lumpia wrappers (spring roll wrappers)

  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)

  • Oil for deep frying

🔪 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the filling:

    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

    • Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.

    • Add ground meat (if using), cook until browned.

    • Add carrots and cabbage; stir-fry until slightly soft.

    • Add bean sprouts, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper.

    • Cook for 3–5 minutes until everything is tender and well-seasoned.

    • Let the filling cool completely before wrapping.

  2. Assemble the lumpia:

    • Place a wrapper diagonally (like a diamond) on a flat surface.

    • Spoon about 1–2 tablespoons of filling onto the lower third of the wrapper.

    • Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in both sides, and roll tightly.

    • Seal the edge with a bit of beaten egg.

  3. Fry the lumpia:

    • Heat oil in a deep pan to 170–180°C (340–360°F).

    • Fry lumpia in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 3–4 minutes each).

    • Drain on paper towels.

  4. Serve:

    • Serve hot with sweet chili sauce, sambal, or a vinegar-garlic dipping sauce.

🍽️ Tips:

  • For vegetarian lumpia, skip the meat and add more veggies like green beans or tofu.

  • Don’t overfill or the wrapper may tear.

    • Lumpia can be frozen before frying. Freeze in a single layer and store in a zip-top bag.
