Limoncello Mojito

Posted on June 12, 2025

Here’s aΒ  Limoncello Mojito recipeβ€”a zesty, refreshing twist on the classic Cuban cocktail, enhanced with the sweet citrus of Italian limoncello.

πŸ‹ Limoncello Mojito Recipe

πŸ§ͺ Ingredients (1 serving)

Fresh Ingredients:

  • 8–10 fresh mint leaves

  • 2–3 lemon wedges (or 1/2 lemon, cut into wedges)

  • Optional: 1–2 lime wedges (for a classic mojito twist)

  • Ice cubes or crushed ice

Alcohol:

  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) white rum

  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) limoncello

Sweetener:

  • 1 tsp (5 ml) simple syrup or sugar

    • (Optional, depending on how sweet your limoncello is)

Other:

  • 2–4 oz (60–120 ml) soda water (club soda or sparkling water)

  • Mint sprig & lemon slice for garnish

πŸ₯„ Instructions

  1. Muddle the Base

    • In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the mint leaves, lemon (and optional lime) wedges, and simple syrup or sugar.

    • Gently muddle (press and twist) the ingredients with a muddler or the back of a spoon. The goal is to release the oils from the mint and juice from the citrus, not tear the mint into bits.

  2. Add Spirits

    • Pour in the white rum and limoncello.

    • Stir or shake gently to combine flavors.

  3. Build the Drink

    • Fill a tall glass (like a Collins glass) with ice (crushed or cubes).

    • Strain or pour the muddled mixture over the ice. If you like pulp and zest, you can pour everything in, unstrained.

    • Top with soda water to taste, usually about 2–4 oz.

  4. Garnish and Serve

    • Give it a gentle stir.

    • Garnish with a sprig of mint, a lemon slice, or even a twist of lemon peel.

    • Optional: a sugar rim for extra flair.

🧊 Tips & Variations

  • Stronger lemon flavor: Add a splash of fresh lemon juice or use lemon-infused soda water.

  • Herbal depth: Add a sprig of basil with the mint for a more complex profile.

  • Frozen version: Blend with crushed ice for a frozen mojito slush.

  • Batch it: For a crowd, multiply the recipe and mix in a pitcher without the soda. Add soda to each glass before serving to preserve the fizz.
