Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 3 large eggs

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup buttermilk

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Butter Glaze:

  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup brown sugar (packed)

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or tube pan.

  2. Make the cake batter:

    • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.

    • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

    • Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the creamed butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.

    • Stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. Bake: Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  4. Make the butter glaze:

    • While the cake bakes, combine butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and heavy cream in a saucepan over medium heat.

    • Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Let it boil for 3 minutes.

    • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

  5. Glaze the cake:

    • When the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.

    • While the cake is still warm, poke holes all over the top with a toothpick or skewer.

    • Slowly pour the butter glaze evenly over the cake, letting it soak in.

  6. Cool and serve:

    • Allow the cake to cool completely before removing it from the pan.

    • Slice and enjoy!
