Cook Time: 25 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes

đź›’ Ingredients:

  • 12 oz bow tie pasta (farfalle)

  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy), casing removed

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

🔪 Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:

    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

    • Cook the bow tie pasta according to package instructions until al dente.

    • Drain and set aside.

  2. Cook the Sausage:

    • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

    • Add sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through (about 6–8 minutes).

    • Remove sausage and set aside, leaving a little fat in the skillet.

  3. Sauté Veggies:

    • In the same skillet, add diced onion. SautĂ© 3–4 minutes until softened.

    • Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.

  4. Make the Sauce:

    • Add the diced tomatoes with their juice, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer for 5 minutes.

    • Stir in the cream and Parmesan cheese. Let it simmer another 3–5 minutes until slightly thickened.

  5. Combine Everything:

    • Return the cooked sausage to the skillet.

    • Add the cooked bow tie pasta and toss everything together until well coated.

    • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. Serve:

    • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and more Parmesan if desired.

📝 Tips:

  • Want extra veggies? Add spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms during the sautĂ© step.

  • For a lighter version, use turkey sausage and half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
