Here’s a rich, moist Honey Bun Pound Cake recipe with a swirl of vanilla and cinnamon, topped with a simple vanilla glaze. It combines the flavors of a honey bun with the density and richness of a pound cake.


🍯 Honey Bun Pound Cake with Vanilla Cinnamon Swirl

🧁 Ingredients

For the Cake:
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)

  • ¼ cup honey

For the Cinnamon Swirl:
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar (light or dark)

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tablespoons milk or cream

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon for a spiced glaze


👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat and Prep:

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).

  • Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or tube pan.

2. Make the Batter:

  • In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).

  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add vanilla extract and honey.

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  • Alternate adding the dry ingredients and sour cream to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

3. Prepare the Swirl:

  • Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.

4. Assemble:

  • Pour half of the batter into the pan.

  • Sprinkle the cinnamon swirl evenly over the batter.

  • Add the remaining batter and gently swirl with a knife for a marbled effect (don’t over-swirl).

5. Bake:

  • Bake for 60–70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  • Let cool in pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

6. Glaze:

  • Whisk together the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk/cream until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled cake.

  • Optional: Add a pinch of cinnamon to the glaze for extra spice.


📝 Tips:

  • Want extra “honey bun” vibes? Add a drizzle of warm honey before serving.

  • For a richer glaze, substitute a bit of melted butter into the icing.
