Grilled Meatloaf Burgers

Here’s a Grilled Meatloaf Burgers recipe that combines the comfort of meatloaf with the smoky flavor of the grill:


Grilled Meatloaf Burgers

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1 egg

  • 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 small onion, finely grated or minced

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • Optional: 1/2 tsp dried thyme or Italian seasoning

For serving:

  • Hamburger buns (toasted)

  • Cheese slices (cheddar, American, or your choice)

  • Lettuce, tomato, onion slices, pickles

  • Extra ketchup or BBQ sauce


Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375–400°F / 190–205°C). Oil the grates to prevent sticking.

  2. Make the meatloaf mix:

    • In a bowl, soak breadcrumbs in milk for 2–3 minutes.

    • Add ground beef, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and any optional herbs.

    • Mix gently with your hands or a fork until just combined. Do not overmix.

  3. Form into patties:

    • Divide mixture into 4 equal parts.

    • Shape into burger patties about 3/4 to 1 inch thick. Press a small indentation in the center with your thumb (helps prevent puffing).

  4. Grill the burgers:

    • Grill patties for about 5–6 minutes per side, flipping once.

    • In the last minute, top with cheese (if using) and close the lid to melt.

  5. Serve:

    • Toast buns on the grill for 30–60 seconds.

    • Assemble burgers with your favorite toppings and sauces.


Tips:

  • You can brush the patties with a little extra ketchup or BBQ sauce during the last minute of grilling for a caramelized glaze.

  • Make smaller patties for sliders or double the recipe for a crowd.
