That sounds absolutely delicious! Here’s a simple and tasty recipe for Gouda and Jalapeños with Mixed Herbs — perfect for a flavorful snack or appetizer.


Gouda & Jalapeño Herb Bites

Ingredients:

  • 200g Gouda cheese (aged or young, shredded or cubed)

  • 2-3 fresh jalapeños, finely chopped (adjust to heat preference)

  • 1 tsp mixed dried herbs (e.g., oregano, thyme, rosemary, basil)

  • 1-2 tbsp cream cheese or mayonnaise (optional, for creaminess)

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Crackers, baguette slices, or bread for serving

Optional extras:

  • A pinch of smoked paprika or chili flakes for extra smoky heat

  • Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish


Instructions:

  1. Prep the jalapeños:
    Remove the seeds if you want less heat, then finely chop the jalapeños.

  2. Mix the cheese:
    In a bowl, combine the shredded Gouda and cream cheese (if using). Stir in the chopped jalapeños and mixed herbs. Add a pinch of black pepper. Mix well until evenly combined.

  3. Taste and adjust:
    Taste your mix and add more jalapeño or herbs as you like. If it’s too dry, add a bit more cream cheese or mayonnaise.

  4. Serve:
    Spoon the mixture onto crackers, baguette slices, or fresh bread. Garnish with fresh parsley or a sprinkle of extra herbs if you like.


Variations:

  • Baked version: Spread the mixture in a small ovenproof dish, top with extra Gouda, and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 10-15 minutes until bubbly and golden.

  • Stuffed peppers: Use mini bell peppers or jalapeño halves and stuff with the cheese mixture. Bake or serve fresh.
