FRIED POTATOES AND ONIONS

Here’s a simple and delicious Fried Potatoes and Onions recipe for you!


Fried Potatoes and Onions

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold work well)

  • 1 large onion (yellow or white)

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil or butter (or a mix)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste

  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, or fresh herbs (like parsley)


Instructions:

  1. Prep the potatoes:
    Peel the potatoes (optional) and slice them into thin rounds or small cubes—whatever you prefer. Try to keep them fairly uniform so they cook evenly.

  2. Prep the onions:
    Peel and slice the onion thinly into rings or half-rings.

  3. Heat the pan:
    Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the oil or butter and let it warm up.

  4. Cook potatoes:
    Add the potatoes to the skillet in a single layer if possible. Let them cook undisturbed for about 5-7 minutes so they start to brown on one side.

  5. Add onions:
    Add the sliced onions to the pan with the potatoes. Stir gently to combine.

  6. Continue cooking:
    Cook, stirring occasionally, for another 10-15 minutes until the potatoes are tender and golden brown and the onions are soft and caramelized. If needed, add a little more oil to prevent sticking.

  7. Season:
    Season with salt, pepper, and any optional spices or herbs you like.

  8. Serve:
    Serve hot as a side dish with eggs, meat, or enjoy on its own!
