🍬 Fried Marshmallow Bites Recipe

⭐ Overview:

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes

  • Cook Time: 10 minutes

  • Total Time: 25 minutes

  • Servings: ~20 bites

  • Difficulty: Easy

📝 Ingredients:

For the Bites:

  • 20 large marshmallows

  • 1 cup pancake mix (or all-purpose flour, see variation)

  • 2/3 cup milk (adjust as needed)

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)

Optional Add-ins:

  • Chocolate chips or mini chocolate bars (for stuffing)

  • Crushed graham crackers (for coating or garnish)

  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

🔪 Equipment:

  • Deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot

  • Slotted spoon or tongs

  • Mixing bowl

  • Whisk

  • Parchment paper or tray

  • Toothpicks or skewers (optional, for handling)

👨‍🍳 Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Batter

  1. In a bowl, mix:

    • 1 cup pancake mix

    • 2/3 cup milk

    • 1 egg

    • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  2. Whisk until smooth. The consistency should be similar to thick pancake batter. Add a little more milk if too thick.

Step 2: Prep the Marshmallows

  • If desired, stuff each marshmallow with a chocolate chip or small piece of chocolate. Use your fingers to press the marshmallow closed again.

  • You can freeze the marshmallows for 10 minutes for easier dipping and less melting while frying (optional but helpful).

Step 3: Heat the Oil

  • In a pot, heat 2–3 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).

  • Maintain the temperature during frying.

Step 4: Dip & Fry

  1. Using a skewer or spoon, dip each marshmallow into the batter, coating it fully.

  2. Carefully drop the coated marshmallow into the hot oil.

  3. Fry 2–3 at a time to avoid crowding.

  4. Cook for 30–60 seconds, flipping once, until golden brown.

  5. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Step 5: Garnish & Serve

  • While still warm, dust with powdered sugar, roll in crushed graham crackers, or drizzle with chocolate sauce.

  • Serve immediately while gooey and warm!

🍫 Optional Variations:

  • S’mores Style: Roll the hot bites in crushed graham crackers and drizzle with melted chocolate.

  • Spiced: Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for warmth.

  • Vegan Option: Use plant-based marshmallows, egg substitute, and a non-dairy pancake mix.

💡 Tips:

  • Fry in small batches for consistent temperature.

  • Use a thermometer to monitor oil temp — too hot = burnt, too cool = soggy.

  • Be careful when biting in — the filling gets hot!
