Flavorful Bread Dipping Oil

Posted on July 29, 2025

Here’s a flavor-packed bread dipping oil recipe that’s perfect with crusty bread like ciabatta, baguette, or focaccia. It combines herbs, garlic, and a touch of heat for a restaurant-quality experience at home.

πŸ«’ Flavorful Bread Dipping Oil Recipe

Ingredients (makes about 1/2 cup):

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced or grated

  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar (optional, for depth)

  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano

  • 1/2 tsp dried basil

  • 1/4 tsp dried thyme

  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust for heat)

  • 1/4 tsp coarse sea salt or kosher salt

  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional but great for color)

  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional but delicious)

Instructions:

  1. Warm the garlic (optional but recommended):
In a small skillet over low heat, add 2 tablespoons of the olive oil and the minced garlic. Warm gently for 1-2 minutes until fragrant β€” don’t brown it, just soften. Remove from heat.

  2. Mix it up:
In a small bowl, combine all ingredients, including the warmed garlic and its oil. Stir well.

  3. Let it infuse:
Let the mixture sit for 10–15 minutes to let the flavors meld. It gets even better over time.

  4. Serve:
Pour into a shallow dish. Serve with warm, crusty bread for dipping.

πŸ” Optional Add-ins:

  • A small squeeze of lemon juice for brightness

  • Chili oil instead of red pepper flakes for heat and richness

  • A few capers or finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes for a Mediterranean twist
