Crispy Baked Chicken Wings Recipe

Posted on June 29, 2025

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Crispy Baked Chicken Wings:

Ingredients:

  • 12 chicken wings (or more if you want to make a larger batch)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter for extra richness)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp paprika (you can use smoked paprika for more depth)

  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder (this is the secret ingredient to get crispy skin)

  • Optional: 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (for a spicy kick)

  • Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high heat helps to get the wings crispy.

  2. Prepare the chicken wings: Pat the wings dry with paper towels. The dryer they are, the crispier they will be! Remove any excess moisture.

  3. Season the wings:

    • In a large bowl, toss the wings with olive oil (or melted butter), garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and baking powder. The baking powder is key to getting that crispy skin, so don’t skip it!

    • If you like heat, add cayenne pepper to the mix.

  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a wire rack. The wire rack will allow air to circulate around the wings, helping them cook evenly and get crispier.

  5. Arrange the wings on the baking sheet (or wire rack) in a single layer. Make sure they’re not crowded, as this can prevent them from crisping up properly.

  6. Bake the wings for 35-45 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they’re golden brown and crispy. Cooking time can vary depending on the size of the wings, so check them for crispiness and internal temperature (they should reach 165°F or 74°C).

  7. Serve: Once done, take them out of the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley or chopped green onions for a fresh finish.

Optional Sauce:

  • If you like to toss your wings in a sauce, you can make a quick buffalo sauce by combining 1/4 cup melted butter and 1/4 cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot). Toss the crispy wings in the sauce and serve!

These wings are great as-is or paired with a dipping sauce like ranch or blue cheese.
