Here’s a soft, rich Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies recipe—perfect for cut-outs or just drop cookies!


🧁 Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

📝 Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 3 oz (85g) cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp almond extract (optional but recommended)

  • 2 1/2 cups (315g) all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt


🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Cream together fats & sugar:
    In a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy (about 2 minutes).

  2. Add egg & flavorings:
    Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) until well combined.

  3. Dry ingredients:
    In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing just until combined. Don’t overmix.

  4. Chill the dough:
    Divide dough in half, flatten into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour (or overnight).

  5. Preheat oven:
    Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  6. Roll and cut:
    On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters or scoop into balls and flatten slightly.

  7. Bake:
    Bake 8–10 minutes, just until edges are barely golden. Don’t overbake—they should stay soft.

  8. Cool & decorate:
    Let cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Decorate with frosting or sprinkles if desired.


✨ Tips:

  • For extra softness, underbake slightly and let them finish on the hot baking sheet.

  • Dough can be frozen up to 2 months—thaw in the fridge overnight.

  • Add citrus zest or spices for flavor variation.
