Copycat KFC Coleslaw

Posted on June 23, 2025

Here’s a popular Copycat KFC Coleslaw Recipe that closely mimics the original KFC taste—creamy, tangy, and perfectly balanced:

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups finely chopped green cabbage (about half a medium head)

  • 1/4 cup finely chopped carrot (about 1 medium carrot)

  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped white onion

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar

  • 2 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the veggies: Finely chop the cabbage, carrot, and onion. It’s important to chop very finely to get the texture close to KFC’s.

  2. Make the dressing: In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, buttermilk, white vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth.

  3. Combine: Add the chopped cabbage, carrot, and onion into a large bowl. Pour the dressing over the vegetables.

  4. Mix well: Stir until everything is evenly coated with the dressing.

  5. Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally overnight. The flavors meld and soften during chilling.

  6. Serve cold as a perfect side dish to fried chicken or your favorite meal!
