Cinnamon Rock Candy

Here’s a simple and delicious Cinnamon Rock Candy recipe you can try at home!


Cinnamon Rock Candy Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1-2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (or cinnamon sticks if you prefer)

  • Food coloring (optional, cinnamon pairs well with warm colors like red or orange)

  • Wooden skewers or clean string sticks

  • A tall glass jar or heatproof container

Instructions:

  1. Prepare your sticks:

    • If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for about 10 minutes, then roll them lightly in sugar. This gives the crystals something to cling to.

    • Let them dry completely on a plate.

  2. Make the cinnamon sugar solution:

    • In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil.

    • Gradually add sugar, stirring constantly until completely dissolved. Keep heating until the solution is clear and no granules remain.

    • Stir in the ground cinnamon (or add cinnamon sticks and let steep for a few minutes, then remove).

    • Optional: add a few drops of food coloring to give your rock candy a nice hue.

  3. Cool slightly:

    • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sugar syrup cool for about 10-15 minutes.

  4. Set up your jars:

    • Pour the syrup into your glass jar or container.

    • Suspend the prepared stick into the jar, making sure it doesn’t touch the sides or bottom.

  5. Wait for crystals to form:

    • Place the jar in a cool, undisturbed area.

    • Crystals should start forming in about 3-7 days. For bigger crystals, leave it longer.

  6. Enjoy your cinnamon rock candy!

    • Once crystals have grown to your liking, remove the stick and let it dry.

    • Store in an airtight container.
