Churros

Here’s a classic churros recipe that’s crispy on the outside, soft inside, and perfect with a side of chocolate sauce or cinnamon sugar:


🌟 Classic Churros Recipe

📝 Ingredients:

For the churros dough:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) water

  • 2 ½ tablespoons (35 g) granulated sugar

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) vegetable oil or unsalted butter

  • 1 cup (120 g) all-purpose flour

For frying:

  • Vegetable oil (for deep frying)

For coating:

  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar

  • 1–2 teaspoons ground cinnamon (to taste)


🔥 Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough:

    • In a medium saucepan, combine water, sugar, salt, and oil (or butter). Bring to a boil over medium heat.

    • Remove from heat, then quickly stir in flour all at once. Mix vigorously until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides.

  2. Cool the dough slightly:

    • Let it rest for about 5–10 minutes. Then transfer to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip (like Wilton 1M or Ateco 827).

  3. Heat the oil:

    • Fill a deep pot or frying pan with about 2 inches (5 cm) of vegetable oil. Heat to 350°F (175°C).

  4. Pipe and fry the churros:

    • Carefully pipe 4–6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil, using scissors or a knife to cut each piece.

    • Fry 2–3 at a time until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side. Don’t overcrowd the pan.

    • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  5. Coat the churros:

    • While warm, roll churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture.


🍫 Optional Chocolate Dipping Sauce:

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream

  • 100 g dark chocolate (chopped)

  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Heat cream until just simmering.

  2. Pour over chopped chocolate, let sit 1 minute, then stir until smooth.
