-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
-
3/4 cup granulated sugar
-
3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
-
2 large eggs
-
2 tsp vanilla extract
-
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 tsp baking soda
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (or chunks)
-
Optional: 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions:
-

Cream butter and sugars together in a large bowl until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes). Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.

Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl: flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
-
Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
-
Scoop dough using a spoon or cookie scoop and place onto prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each.
-
Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and centers are still soft.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
