🍒 Cherry Dump Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
-
1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
-
2 cans cherry pie filling (21 oz each)
-
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted (or sliced into thin pats)
-
Optional: 1 tsp almond extract (adds great flavor)
-
Optional topping: chopped nuts (e.g. pecans or walnuts), whipped cream, or vanilla ice cream
👩🍳 Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
-
Spread both cans of cherry pie filling evenly in the bottom of the dish.
-
Optional: Stir in almond extract with the cherry filling.
-
-
Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the cherry filling — do not mix it in.
-
Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
-
Alternatively, you can lay very thin pats of butter over the top to cover as evenly as possible.
-
-
Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the edges are bubbly.
-
Cool slightly, then serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
📝 Tips:
-
You can swap out one can of cherry filling for crushed pineapple (undrained) for a sweet-tart combo.
-
To make it richer, add a few white chocolate chips on top before baking.
