Here’s a tasty recipe for Cheesy Sausage Puff Pastry Rolls that’s super easy and delicious!


Cheesy Sausage Puff Pastry Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

  • 250g (about 1/2 lb) sausage meat (or remove casing from sausages)

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)

  • 1 tsp dried herbs (like oregano or mixed Italian herbs)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare sausage filling:
    In a bowl, mix the sausage meat with the chopped onion, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper until well combined.

  3. Roll out puff pastry:
    Lightly flour your work surface and roll the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle (about 10×12 inches).

  4. Assemble:
    Spread the sausage mixture evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border on all sides. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the sausage layer.

  5. Roll and seal:
    Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the puff pastry up into a tight log. Press the edges to seal the roll.

  6. Slice:
    Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into about 12 even pieces.

  7. Egg wash:
    Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash for a golden finish.

  8. Bake:
    Place the rolls cut-side up on the prepared baking tray, leaving a little space between each. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden, and the sausage is cooked through.

  9. Cool slightly and serve:
    Let the rolls cool for a few minutes before serving. Perfect as a snack or appetizer!
