Cheesy Potato Balls

Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for Cheesy Potato Balls – crispy on the outside, creamy and cheesy on the inside!


🧀 Cheesy Potato Balls Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups mashed potatoes (preferably cold)

  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded or cut into small cubes)

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • Salt to taste

For Coating:
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 eggs (beaten)

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

  • Oil for deep frying


Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Potato Mixture:

    • In a large bowl, mix mashed potatoes, green onions (if using), garlic powder, pepper, and salt.

    • Take about 2 tablespoons of the mixture and flatten it in your hand.

    • Place a small cube or spoonful of cheese in the center and shape into a ball, fully enclosing the cheese.

    • Repeat for the rest of the mixture.

  2. Coat the Balls:

    • Roll each ball in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.

    • For an extra crispy crust, double coat by dipping again in egg and breadcrumbs.

  3. Chill (Optional but Recommended):

    • Place the coated balls in the fridge for 15–30 minutes to firm up. This helps them hold shape during frying.

  4. Fry:

    • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).

    • Fry the balls in batches until golden brown and crispy (about 2–3 minutes).

    • Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve hot with ketchup, garlic aioli, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.


🔄 Variations:

  • Add chili flakes or paprika for a spicy kick.

  • Mix in bacon bits or herbs for added flavor.

  • Use mozzarella for a stringy cheese pull!
