Here’s a Cheese Potato Meat Roll recipe that’s hearty, flavorful, and perfect for dinner or a party appetizer. It’s a baked roll made with layers of seasoned ground meat, mashed potatoes, and melted cheese.


🧀 Cheese Potato Meat Roll Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Meat Layer:
  • 500g (1.1 lb) ground beef or chicken

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)

  • 1 tbsp oil or butter

For the Potato Layer:
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and boiled

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1/4 cup milk (or cream)

  • Salt to taste

  • Optional: pinch of nutmeg or black pepper

For the Filling:
  • 1 to 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

  • Fresh herbs (parsley or green onions), optional

For Assembly:
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for crust)

  • Baking parchment or foil


🔪 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Meat Layer:

  1. Heat oil in a skillet. Add onion and garlic; sauté until soft.

  2. Add ground meat, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook until browned and no longer pink.

  3. Let it cool slightly.

2. Make Mashed Potatoes:

  1. Mash the boiled potatoes with butter, milk, and salt. Mix until smooth and creamy. Let it cool slightly.

3. Assemble the Roll:

  1. On a sheet of parchment paper, spread the mashed potatoes into a rectangle (~1/2 inch thick).

  2. Evenly spread the cooked meat on top.

  3. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the meat.

  4. Gently roll everything into a log, using the parchment to help lift and roll. Tuck in the edges to seal.

  5. Brush the roll with beaten egg and sprinkle with breadcrumbs if using.

4. Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and heated through.

5. Cool & Serve:

  • Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.

  • Serve with ketchup, gravy, or a creamy garlic sauce.

  • Add steamed vegetables (like peas or carrots) for more nutrition.

  • Use sweet potatoes for a different flavor.

  • Great for meal prep — can be reheated in the oven or microwave.
