Carne Asada Marinade

Here’s a classic, flavorful Carne Asada marinade recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed is best)

  • 1/4 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed)

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro

  • 1-2 jalapeños, seeded and chopped (optional, for heat)

  • 2 tsp ground cumin

  • 2 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional, for extra umami)

Instructions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until well combined.

  2. Place your flank or skirt steak in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish.

  3. Pour the marinade over the steak, making sure it’s well coated.

  4. Seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally 4-6 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.

  5. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill over high heat for about 4-5 minutes per side (depending on thickness and desired doneness).

  6. Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly against the grain.
