Here’s a quick and detailed recipe for a soft, delicious cake in just 15 minutes – using your stovetop or microwave (your choice). This is perfect when you’re short on time but craving something sweet.

✅ Ingredients (for 4–6 servings)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (maida)

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup milk (room temperature)

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil or melted butter

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt


🥣 Optional Add-ins

  • Chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits

  • Cocoa powder (replace 2 tbsp of flour with cocoa for a chocolate version)


👩‍🍳 Method 1: Microwave (Super Quick – 5 to 7 mins total)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare the pan
    Grease a microwave-safe bowl or cake mold with oil or butter. You can also line it with parchment paper.

  2. Mix wet ingredients
    In a large bowl, whisk:

    • ½ cup milk

    • ¼ cup oil or melted butter

    • ½ cup sugar

    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

    • 1 tbsp vinegar or lemon juice

  3. Add dry ingredients
    Sift in:

    • 1 cup flour

    • 1 tsp baking powder

    • ½ tsp baking soda

    • Pinch of salt

    Mix until you get a smooth batter (don’t overmix).

  4. Microwave it
    Pour the batter into the greased mold. Microwave on high power (700–900W) for 4 to 6 minutes. Check with a toothpick after 4 minutes—if it comes out clean, it’s done.

  5. Cool & serve
    Let the cake cool for 2 minutes before removing. Serve as-is or dust with powdered sugar, cocoa, or a quick icing.


🔥 Method 2: Stovetop (No oven needed – about 15 mins total)

You’ll Need:

  • A heavy-bottomed pan with a lid

  • A small cake tin or steel bowl (that fits inside the pan)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Preheat your pan
    Place a stand or ring in the pan and cover it with the lid. Preheat on medium heat for 5 minutes.

  2. Prepare the batter
    Mix the same ingredients as above.

  3. Grease the cake tin
    Oil it well and dust with flour or line with paper.

  4. Pour and bake
    Pour the batter into the tin, place it on the stand inside the hot pan, cover with lid, and bake for 10–12 minutes on low-medium heat.

  5. Test and cool
    Check doneness with a toothpick. Let it cool before slicing.


🎂 Optional Quick Frosting (2 min)

  • Mix 2 tbsp cocoa powder, 2 tbsp powdered sugar, 1 tbsp butter, and 2 tbsp hot milk. Stir till smooth. Pour over cooled cake.
