Beef Liver and Onions is a classic comfort food dish, rich in iron and full of flavor. Here’s a simple and delicious recipe to prepare it:


🥩 Beef Liver and Onions Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef liver, sliced into ½-inch thick pieces

  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced

  • 2 tbsp flour (optional, for dredging)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp oil (vegetable or olive oil)

  • 1 cup milk (for soaking liver – optional, helps mellow flavor)


Instructions:

  1. Soak the Liver (Optional but Recommended):

    • Place sliced liver in a bowl and cover with milk.

    • Let it soak for 30–60 minutes in the refrigerator.

    • Drain and pat dry with paper towels.

  2. Prepare the Onions:

    • In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp oil over medium heat.

    • Add onions and cook slowly, stirring often, until soft and caramelized (about 15–20 minutes).

    • Remove onions from the pan and set aside.

  3. Cook the Liver:

    • Season liver slices with salt and pepper.

    • Dredge lightly in flour (optional for a crispier texture).

    • Add remaining butter and oil to the pan.

    • Sear the liver on medium-high heat for about 2–3 minutes per side (do not overcook—it gets tough quickly).

    • Return the onions to the pan, stir gently to combine, and cook together for 2 more minutes.
