Air Fryer Apple Chips with Cinnamon Sugar

Posted on August 16, 2025

Here’s a  recipe for Air Fryer Apple Chips with Cinnamon Sugar – perfectly crisp, naturally sweet, and incredibly easy to make. These make for a healthy snack that tastes like a treat.

🍎 Air Fryer Apple Chips with Cinnamon Sugar

🕒 Total Time: 20–40 minutes

🍽 Servings: 2–4 (depending on how many apples you use)

✅ Ingredients:

  • 2 medium apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, Gala, or Pink Lady work best)

  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 ½ tbsp granulated sugar (or coconut sugar for a healthier option)

  • Cooking spray (optional, helps prevent sticking)

🧂 Optional Add-ins:

  • Pinch of nutmeg or allspice

  • Vanilla powder for added flavor

🍴 Equipment:

  • Air fryer

  • Mandoline slicer or a sharp knife

  • Small bowl

  • Parchment paper with holes (optional, for easier cleanup)

🔪 Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prep the Apples

  • Wash and dry apples thoroughly.

  • Using a mandoline slicer (for best uniformity) or a sharp knife, slice the apples into thin rounds – about ⅛ inch thick. You can keep the core and seeds in for a rustic look or remove them with an apple corer or knife.

  • Optional: Lightly pat slices dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture (for extra crispiness).

2. Mix the Cinnamon Sugar

  • In a small bowl, mix:

    • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon

    • 1 ½ tbsp sugar

  • Adjust ratio depending on how sweet or spicy you want them.

3. Season the Apple Slices

  • Lay the apple slices out in a single layer.

  • Lightly spray with cooking spray (optional), then sprinkle both sides with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Press gently so it sticks.

4. Arrange in Air Fryer

  • Place the seasoned apple slices in the air fryer basket or tray in a single layer, ensuring no overlapping.

  • You might need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

5. Air Fry

  • Set the air fryer to 300°F (150°C).

  • Cook for 15–20 minutes, flipping the slices halfway through (at around the 8–10 minute mark).

  • Keep an eye on them – cooking time may vary based on slice thickness and air fryer model.

  • Pro Tip: They might still be soft when warm but will crisp up as they cool.

6. Cool & Crisp

  • Remove apple chips and lay them on a cooling rack or paper towel to cool completely.

  • As they cool, they become crispier.

🧊 Storage:

  • Once completely cool, store in an airtight container at room temperature.

  • Stays crisp for up to 3–5 days (though they’re usually gone before that!).

🍯 Serving Ideas:

  • On top of oatmeal or yogurt

  • Dipped in peanut butter or Nutella

  • Crushed over vanilla ice cream

  • Packed in lunchboxes
