Posted on August 7, 2025

Here’s a recipe for making Bacon and Tomato Sandwiches—a classic favorite that’s simple, delicious, and perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a light dinner.

🥪 Bacon and Tomato Sandwiches Recipe

📝 Ingredients (for 2 sandwiches):

Main:

  • 4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, or your favorite)

  • 6–8 slices of bacon

  • 1–2 large ripe tomatoes, sliced

  • Lettuce leaves (optional, for freshness and crunch)

  • Butter or mayonnaise (for spreading)

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional Additions:

  • Avocado slices

  • Cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or provolone)

  • Fried or poached egg

  • Mustard or hot sauce, for an extra kick

🔪 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Bacon

  • Place bacon slices in a cold skillet.

  • Turn the heat to medium and cook the bacon, flipping occasionally, until crispy and browned (about 8–10 minutes).

  • Transfer bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess fat.

  • For a less greasy version, bake bacon in a 400°F (200°C) oven on a wire rack over a baking sheet for 15–18 minutes.

2. Toast the Bread

  • Lightly butter both sides of the bread slices (optional).

  • Toast in a skillet or toaster until golden brown and crisp.

  • For extra flavor, toast them in the bacon drippings (just a quick swipe in the pan).

3. Prepare the Tomatoes

  • Wash and slice the tomatoes into ¼-inch thick rounds.

  • Lightly sprinkle with salt and pepper. This enhances flavor and helps draw out some moisture to prevent soggy bread.

4. Assemble the Sandwich

  • Spread mayonnaise (or your chosen spread) on one or both slices of each sandwich.

  • Layer the sandwich:

    1. One slice of bread (spread-side up)

    2. Lettuce leaf (if using)

    3. Tomato slices

    4. Crispy bacon strips

    5. Optional toppings like avocado or cheese

    6. Top with the second slice of bread

5. Serve

  • Slice the sandwich in half diagonally or down the middle.

  • Serve immediately while the bacon is still warm and the toast is crisp.

🧊 Storage Tips:

  • These sandwiches are best eaten fresh. However, you can:

    • Pre-cook bacon and store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.

    • Slice tomatoes ahead but drain extra juice before assembling.

    • Toast bread just before serving to avoid sogginess.

🍽️ Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve with:

    • Potato chips or fries

    • A side salad

    • Pickles or coleslaw

    • Iced tea or lemonade
