Homemade Peach Ice Cream

Here’s a simple and delicious Homemade Peach Ice Cream recipe you can try!


Ingredients:

  • 3-4 ripe peaches (about 2 cups peeled and diced)

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (divided)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt


Instructions:

  1. Prepare the peaches:

    • Peel, pit, and dice the peaches.

    • In a bowl, toss the diced peaches with 1/4 cup sugar and lemon juice.

    • Let them sit for about 20-30 minutes to macerate and release their juices.

  2. Cook the peach mixture:

    • Optional: To intensify the peach flavor, you can lightly cook the peaches.

    • Place the peaches with their juices in a saucepan over medium heat.

    • Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they soften.

    • Let cool completely.

  3. Make the ice cream base:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until sugar dissolves.

  4. Combine:

    • Mash half of the peaches with a fork or blend slightly for a smoother texture.

    • Stir the mashed peaches and the remaining whole peach chunks into the ice cream base.

  5. Chill:

    • Refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.

  6. Churn:

    • Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker.

    • Churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20-25 minutes).

  7. Freeze:

    • Transfer the soft ice cream into an airtight container.

    • Freeze for at least 4 hours to firm up before serving.


Tips:

  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can freeze the mixture in a shallow container, stirring every 30 minutes for a few hours to break up ice crystals.

  • Adding a splash of peach liqueur or bourbon can give an adult twist!
