Homemade creamy garlic sauce

Here’s a rich and flavorful homemade creamy garlic sauce recipe that’s perfect for pasta, chicken, shrimp, or even as a dipping sauce.

🧄 Creamy Garlic Sauce

 

Ingredients:

 

2 tbsp unsalted butter

 

6–8 garlic cloves, finely minced or grated

 

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

 

1 ½ cups whole milk (or half-and-half for richer sauce)

 

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (fresh is best)

 

¼ tsp salt (or to taste)

 

¼ tsp black pepper

 

Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning

 

Optional: 2 tbsp heavy cream (for extra richness)

Instructions:

 

1. Sauté Garlic

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly. Don’t let it brown — just until fragrant.

 

 

2. Make a Roux

Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute, whisking constantly. This helps eliminate the raw flour taste.

 

 

3. Add Milk Slowly

Gradually whisk in the milk (or half-and-half), making sure it blends smoothly with the roux. Keep whisking to avoid lumps.

 

 

4. Simmer and Thicken

Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Cook for 3–5 minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency.

 

 

5. Finish with Cheese and Seasoning

Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese. Add salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings to taste. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is silky.

Tips:

 

Use roasted garlic for a sweeter, deeper flavor.

 

For a thinner sauce, add more milk. For thicker, simmer a bit longer.

 

Keeps in the fridge for 3–4 days. Reheat gently to avoid curdling.
