Here’s a simple and delicious Chocolate Chip Crumb Cake recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or buttermilk

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Crumb Topping:

  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the crumb topping:

    • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

    • Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.

  3. Make the cake batter:

    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

    • In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

    • Stir in the vanilla extract.

    • Add the dry ingredients alternately with the sour cream (or buttermilk), beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

    • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.

  4. Assemble the cake:

    • Pour the cake batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it out evenly.

    • Sprinkle the crumb topping over the batter, covering it generously.

  5. Bake the cake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The crumb topping should be golden brown.

  6. Cool and serve:

    • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

    • Slice, serve, and enjoy!
