Here’s a tasty and easy Beef and Broccoli Lo Mein recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • For the Beef Marinade:

    • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

    • 1 tbsp soy sauce

    • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

    • 1 tbsp cornstarch

    • 1 tsp sesame oil

    • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • For the Lo Mein:

    • 8 oz (225g) lo mein noodles (or any long noodle like spaghetti if you don’t have lo mein)

    • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)

    • 2 cups broccoli florets (steamed or blanched)

    • 3 cloves garlic, minced

    • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced

    • 1/2 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional for extra color)

    • 2 tbsp soy sauce

    • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (or substitute with hoisin sauce)

    • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce (optional, for color)

    • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

    • 1 tsp sugar

    • 1 tsp sesame oil

    • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

    • Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Beef:

    • In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, rice vinegar, cornstarch, sesame oil, and black pepper.

    • Toss well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prep the rest of the ingredients.

  2. Prepare the Noodles:

    • Cook the lo mein noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  3. Make the Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, dark soy sauce (if using), rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper. Set this sauce aside.

  4. Stir-Fry the Beef:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

    • Add the marinated beef in a single layer and cook until browned and nearly cooked through (about 3–4 minutes).

    • Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

  5. Cook the Vegetables:

    • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil.

    • Stir-fry the onions, bell pepper (if using), and garlic for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened.

    • Add the steamed broccoli and toss to combine.

  6. Combine Everything:

    • Add the cooked noodles to the pan with the vegetables and toss them in the oil.

    • Add the cooked beef back into the pan, along with the prepared sauce.

    • Stir everything together until well coated, heated through, and the noodles soak up the sauce.

  7. Final Touch:

    • Adjust seasoning to taste (add more soy sauce, sugar, or sesame oil if needed).

    • Serve hot with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or green onions on top if desired.
