Voodoo Egg Rolls

Here’s a flavorful and spicy Voodoo Egg Rolls recipe—perfect as a party appetizer or a bold twist on a Southern-fusion dish. These egg rolls are packed with Cajun-seasoned meats, veggies, and gooey cheese, then deep-fried to golden perfection and served with a creamy voodoo sauce.


🔥 Voodoo Egg Rolls Recipe

🧄 Ingredients:

For the Egg Rolls:

  • 1/2 lb andouille sausage, finely diced or crumbled

  • 1/2 lb cooked shrimp, chopped

  • 1 cup cooked rice (optional, for texture)

  • 1 cup pepper jack cheese, shredded

  • 1/2 cup bell peppers (red and green), diced

  • 1/2 cup onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • 1 tbsp hot sauce (like Crystal or Louisiana)

  • 1 package egg roll wrappers

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut oil)

Optional: finely chopped jalapeños or pickled banana peppers for heat


🥣 For the Voodoo Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp Creole mustard (or Dijon)

  • 1 tbsp hot sauce

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp honey or sugar

  • Dash of cayenne pepper (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a bowl until smooth. Chill while you make the egg rolls.


🔪 Instructions:

  1. Cook the Filling:

    • In a large skillet, cook andouille sausage over medium heat until browned. Add onions, peppers, and garlic. Sauté until soft.

    • Stir in shrimp and Cajun seasoning. Cook for another 2–3 minutes.

    • Add rice (if using), cheese, and hot sauce. Mix until cheese melts. Let cool slightly.

  2. Assemble Egg Rolls:

    • Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface, corner facing you.

    • Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of filling near the center.

    • Fold the bottom up, tuck in sides, and roll tightly. Seal edge with a dab of water.

  3. Fry the Egg Rolls:

    • Heat oil in a deep skillet or fryer to 350°F (175°C).

    • Fry egg rolls 3–5 minutes until golden brown, turning occasionally.

    • Drain on paper towels.

  4. Serve:

    • Plate hot egg rolls with voodoo sauce on the side or drizzle on top.


🌶 Tips:

  • Want it spicier? Add diced habanero or a few dashes of extra hot sauce.

  • For a lighter option, air-fry at 390°F for 8–10 minutes or bake at 400°F for 15–20 minutes, brushing with oil.
