🧀 Cheesesteak-Stuffed Garlic Bread

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb (450g) ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

For the Cheese Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 3/4 cup whole milk

  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese

  • Salt to taste

For the Garlic Bread:

  • 1 large French or Italian bread loaf

  • 4 tbsp butter, melted

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Steak and Veggies:

    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Sauté onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms (if using) until softened, 5–7 minutes.

    • Add thinly sliced steak, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.

    • Cook until steak is browned, about 3–4 minutes. Set aside.

  2. Make the Cheese Sauce:

    • In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

    • Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.

    • Slowly whisk in milk and cook until thickened, 2–3 minutes.

    • Add shredded cheese and stir until smooth. Season with salt.

  3. Prepare the Bread:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

    • Cut the loaf in half lengthwise, creating a top and bottom.

    • Scoop out some of the soft bread from the center to make room for the filling.

  4. Garlic Butter:

    • Mix melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and garlic powder.

    • Brush the insides of the bread with the garlic butter.

  5. Assemble:

    • Spread cheese sauce onto the bottom half of the bread.

    • Layer on the steak and veggie mixture.

    • Sprinkle extra shredded cheese on top.

    • Place the top half of bread back on.

  6. Bake:

    • Wrap the loaf in foil and bake for 15–20 minutes.

    • Unwrap and broil for 2–3 minutes for a crispy top (optional).

  7. Serve:

    • Let rest 5 minutes, then slice and serve warm.
