Stir-Fried Shrimp and Broccoli

Here’s a simple and delicious Stir-Fried Shrimp and Broccoli recipe you can whip up in about 30 minutes:


Stir-Fried Shrimp and Broccoli

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 2–3 cups broccoli florets

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil for extra flavor)

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated (optional)

  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional but adds great depth)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water – for slurry)

  • 1 tbsp honey or sugar (for a touch of sweetness)

  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth (for steaming the broccoli)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Shrimp:

    • Pat shrimp dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

  2. Cook the Broccoli:

    • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high heat.

    • Add broccoli and stir-fry for about 2–3 minutes.

    • Add 1/4 cup water or broth, cover, and steam for 2 more minutes until tender-crisp.

    • Remove broccoli and set aside.

  3. Cook the Shrimp:

    • In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp oil.

    • Add garlic (and ginger, if using) and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

    • Add shrimp and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes, or until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  4. Make the Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey (or sugar), and red pepper flakes.

    • Pour into the skillet and bring to a simmer.

    • Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens (about 30 seconds).

  5. Combine Everything:

    • Return shrimp and broccoli to the skillet.

    • Toss well to coat everything evenly with the sauce.

    • Cook for another minute to heat through.

  6. Serve:

    • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
