Here’s a delicious Crock Pot French Onion Meatballs recipe—perfect for a cozy dinner or an easy party dish:


🧅 Crock Pot French Onion Meatballs

🍽️ Servings: 6–8

⏱️ Cook Time: 3–4 hours on HIGH or 6–8 hours on LOW


🧾 Ingredients:

  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen meatballs (beef, turkey, or plant-based)

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

  • 1 (10.5 oz) can French onion soup (like Campbell’s)

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

  • 1 ½ cups shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese (mozzarella is a good substitute)


🔪 Instructions:

  1. Caramelize the Onions (Optional but Recommended):

    • In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter.

    • Add sliced onions and cook 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and soft.

    • You can skip this step if you’re short on time, but it adds amazing flavor.

  2. Assemble in Crock Pot:

    • Add frozen meatballs, caramelized onions, French onion soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme (if using), salt, and pepper to the slow cooker.

    • Stir gently to combine.

  3. Cook:

    • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours until meatballs are heated through and flavors are well blended.

  4. Cheesy Topping:

    • 15–30 minutes before serving, sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.

    • Cover and let cheese melt completely.


🍴 Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or toasted French bread slices (like an open-faced sandwich).

  • Garnish with chopped parsley or extra cheese if desired.
