Here’s a simple and fun Sea in a Bottle Sensory Bottle recipe you can make at home! It’s great for calming sensory play or a little ocean-themed decoration.
Sea in a Bottle Sensory Bottle Recipe
Materials:
-
Clear plastic or glass bottle with a tight lid (a water bottle or a recycled clear bottle works great)
-
Water (about ¾ full)
-
Clear hair gel or clear glue (to make the water thicker and slow down movement)
-
Blue food coloring
-
Small seashells, tiny plastic sea animals, or blue glitter (optional)
-
Baby oil or vegetable oil (optional, for layering effect)
-
Superglue or hot glue (to seal the lid safely)
Instructions:
-
Fill the bottle about ¾ full with water.
-
Add a few drops of blue food coloring to get the ocean color you like.
-
Add clear hair gel or clear glue to fill the rest of the bottle, leaving some space at the top. This thickens the liquid and slows down movement for a calming effect.
-
Add small seashells, tiny sea animal toys, or blue glitter for a fun ocean vibe.
-
(Optional) Add a small amount of baby oil or vegetable oil on top of the water mixture before sealing. This creates a cool layering, like the ocean surface.
-
Seal the lid tightly. For extra safety, use superglue or hot glue around the lid so it won’t open during play.
-
Shake and watch the sea swirl inside your bottle!
