Cheap Home Made Blueberry Muffins

Here’s a cheap and easy homemade blueberry muffin recipe that uses simple ingredients but still tastes great!


🫐 Cheap Homemade Blueberry Muffins

Makes: 12 muffins
Time: 30–35 minutes
Estimated Cost: Low-budget (under $5 total, depending on where you shop)


Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • ¾ cup white sugar

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)

  • 1 large egg

  • ⅓–½ cup milk (as needed)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries

  • (Optional) 1–2 tablespoons sugar for sprinkling on top


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
    Line a muffin tin with paper liners or lightly grease it.

  2. Mix dry ingredients:
    In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.

  3. Add wet ingredients:
    In a measuring cup, pour oil, crack in the egg, and add vanilla (if using).
    Fill the rest with milk until it reaches 1 cup total liquid. Stir to combine.

  4. Combine everything:
    Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
    Don’t overmix—it’s okay if a few lumps remain.

  5. Fold in blueberries gently.

  6. Scoop batter into muffin cups, filling them about ¾ full.
    (Optional: sprinkle tops with a bit of sugar for crunch.)

  7. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until tops are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

  8. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.


💡 Tips to Keep It Cheap:

  • Use frozen blueberries instead of fresh (don’t thaw).

  • Replace part of the oil with applesauce or yogurt if you have it on hand.

  • Skip vanilla if you don’t have it—it’s still tasty without.
