-
1 tsp baking powder
-
½ tsp baking soda
-
½ tsp salt
-
½ tsp ground cinnamon
-
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
-
½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
-
¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
½ cup (120ml) sour cream or Greek yogurt
-
1½ tsp vanilla extract
-
1¼ cups (1 medium) peeled, finely chopped apple (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
For the Cinnamon Swirl:
-
¼ cup (50g) brown sugar
-
1½ tsp ground cinnamon
Optional Glaze:
-
½ cup (60g) powdered sugar
-
1–2 tsp milk or cream
-
¼ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and line with parchment paper for easy removal.
-
Make the Cinnamon Swirl:
In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside. -
Prepare the Batter:
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
-
In a large bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).
-
Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in sour cream and vanilla extract.
-
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Fold in chopped apples.
-
-
Assemble the Loaf:
-
Pour half the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter.
-
Add the remaining batter on top, then sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon swirl.
-
Use a butter knife to gently swirl the cinnamon through the loaf in a figure-8 motion.
-
-
Bake:
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. (If the top is browning too fast, tent with foil during the last 15 minutes.) -
Cool & Glaze (Optional):
Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then remove and transfer to a wire rack. If using glaze, mix ingredients and drizzle over the cooled loaf.
📝 Tips:
-
For extra texture, add ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans.

You can use applesauce instead of chopped apple for a smoother texture.
