Here’s a classic Cobb Salad with Homemade Ranch Dressing recipe that’s packed with flavor, texture, and freshness. Perfect for lunch or a light dinner!


🥗 Cobb Salad with Homemade Ranch Dressing

🛒 Ingredients

For the Salad:

  • 6 cups chopped Romaine lettuce

  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, peeled and quartered

  • 1 cup cooked and crumbled bacon

  • 1 cup grilled or roasted chicken breast, diced

  • 1 avocado, sliced or diced

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1/2 cup blue cheese or feta, crumbled

  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced red onion (optional)

  • 1/2 cup cucumber, sliced (optional)

For the Homemade Ranch Dressing:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/2 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)

  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup buttermilk (adjust for desired thickness)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • Optional: 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped


🥣 Instructions

1. Make the Ranch Dressing:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayo, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.

  2. Add lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, salt, pepper, and chives (if using).

  3. Taste and adjust seasoning. Chill for at least 15 minutes for flavors to meld.

2. Assemble the Salad:

  1. Spread the chopped romaine lettuce over a large platter or bowl.

  2. Arrange the toppings in rows or sections: eggs, bacon, chicken, avocado, tomatoes, cheese, onion, and cucumber if using.

  3. Drizzle with ranch dressing just before serving, or serve on the side.


🔄 Tips & Variations

  • Swap grilled chicken with turkey or steak for variety.

  • For extra crunch, add croutons or sunflower seeds.

  • To make it lighter, use Greek yogurt in place of sour cream and reduce mayo.
